I think the 8600M GT is a better card, the support NVIDIA 8 Series DirectX 10 and Games to be used in the future. However, I do not know much nvida Series 6 Thus far, was the university, I always together with a basic laptop. All you need is something you can do word processing and surfing the net. I personally like Dell.
